Biosa
Soap Nuts – cleanliness in a nutshell

Soap nuts are
a natural part of the washing culture on the Indian
subcontinent, where they clean both textiles, jewellery,
objects form the temples and precious metals. Soap nuts
contain saponin, a substance with special washing
abilities, well suited for laundry and personal hygiene.
Soap nuts make the washing soft and comfortable and they
are long lasting. They are particularly gentle to the
skin and thus very well suited for children and skin
allergic people.
Using
Biosa Soap Nuts
-
Laundry – Instead of
the normal washing powder, put 3-5 nutshells in the
cotton bag. Crush the shells a bit in the bag and
place the bag in the drum with the laundry. Start
the washing machine as normal. The soap nuts wash
coloured and boil wash between 30 and 95 degrees –
also kashmir, wool and silk. With washings up to 40
degrees the soap nuts can be used twice. With white
washing a teaspoon of bleach can be added if needed.
The smell is neutral. A couple of drops of ethereal
oil can be added to the cotton bag if perfume is
desired.
-
Soap nut extract –
boil 5 soap nuts in a litre of water and leave them
to infuse for 5 minutes. Keep the extract in a
bottle. With this extract you can shower, wash your
hair, do the dishes, wash the floor, clean the
furniture, wash the car.
Further, the extract can be sprayed on to plants against
for example greenflies
without harming the
